Income Support (IS)

Income Support (IS) is being replaced by UC for most people – so no NEW claims unless:

• You get the Severe Disability Premium or entitled to it / or
• You got or were entitled to the Severe Disability Premium in the last month, and still eligible for it

IS is limited to a small number of people –and can include those with disability, child care responsibility and caring duties.

From 27th January 2021 (the closing of the Severe Disability Premium ‘Gateway’), no new claims can be made for (Income Support), on the basis of receiving the Severe Disability Premium (SDP).
