Family Fund

Provides grants to low income families and families who are raising a disabled or seriously ill child aged 17 or under.

You can apply for a Family Fund Grant if:

  • You live in the UK.
  • You are the parent or carer of a disabled or seriously ill child or young person aged 0-17 who lives with you.
  • You are currently living in the UK and done so for at least 6 months, or 3 months if your child is less than 6 months’ old. You are eligible to work and apply for public funds.
  • Your child is not in Local Authority care, and:

You have evidence of entitlement to any one of the following:

  • Universal Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income Based Employment and Support Allowance
  • Income Support
  • Housing Benefit
  • Pension Credit
  • Your child or young person has a high level of additional Support needs arising from a long term disability or disabling condition or a serious or life limiting illness. Long term is meaning lasting or likely to last 12 months or more.

Additional support could include help with personal care (feeding, washing, toileting etc), or supervision – to ensure your child’s safety. Being in receipt of disability benefits could be a strong indicator that the child or young person needs additional support.

Grants can be awarded to support families to take a break as a family –support families with items that help to ease the daily pressures they face and support parents and carers to take a break from their responsibilities.
