In this section you can access our annual reports and research documents. Derbyshire Unemployed Workers’ Centres have a long history of conducting research in our communities, giving a picture of the realities of those living on benefits credits and in precarious work. Academic institutions have keenly supported us with their help and expertise in this work, which has seen our volunteers carry out numerous surveys across the region, gaining valuable insight into both the benefits system and job market. Our research is used to inform politicians, policy makers and administrators, providing an authentic voice of those on the sharp end of public policy and economic circumstance. Over the years, we have drawn attention to issues such as Mandatory Training Schemes, ‘Barriers to Employment’, Work Capability Assessments, Agency Work and Zero Hours Contracts, and Universal Credit.
